MG Rover TF

Ratings

3 stars

Summary

Average. Britain's best-selling roadster is a re-working of the old MGF. Much improved and great fun to drive but the styling and some of the interior is dated.

Review

MG has kept the British two-seater sports car scene alive with the well-priced TF. Revisions to the old MGF have helped create a relatively easy-to-use and comfortable soft-top - provided you're not over six feet tall. The steering and handling are much sharper too, with uprated brakes. The engines sound good but the range starts with a slightly underpowered 115. For sheer driving pleasure the 160 has plenty of performance. This is a car with bags of enthusiasm but it is starting to feel its age. Good competition for the class-leading Mazda MX-5 and easier to live with on a daily basis than a Lotus Elise.
