MG Rover ZS

Summary

Average. The sporty version of the Rover 45 is great fun to drive despite harsh ride comfort. In-your-face looks might not be to everyone's tastes and it's dated inside.

Review

Hats off to MG Rover for trying to create a mid-size hatchback/saloon which combines raucous performance with day-to-day ability. The ZS may not be the most up to date inside but both the 1.8 ZS 120 and the potent ZS 180 V6 are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. There's also a 2.0 turbodiesel that isn't as quick but still manages to look the part. Spoilers, side skirts and wild colours are all part of the package - as well as a tuned exhaust note. The ZS is due to be replaced next year so you should be able to find a decent deal.
