MG Rover ZR

Ratings

3 stars

Summary

Average. A funky 'sporting' version of the Rover 25 with firmed-up suspension and a lurid bodykit. Much better to drive, but it can't hide the fact that the basic bodyshell is now out of date.

Review

The ZR works better than you would expect, given that it is based on the outclassed Rover 25 - at least now the handling is first rate. The design of the bodykit is more Birmingham than Barcelona, but at least it will get the ZR noticed. The rest of the experience is - predictably - like the Rover 25, meaning a dated interior, poor quality cabin materials and a Jurassic-era diesel engine.
