Mazda Premacy

Ratings

3 stars

Summary

Average. This compact MPV has plenty going for it but faces stiff competition from better known rivals. Good value and reliable but equally dull to drive.

Review

Mazda has a fresh look in the UK with the new 6 saloon and forthcoming RX-8 steal the headlines. However, it's cars like the budget Premacy which add some versatility to the line-up. Prices are good across the range and standard equipment is impressive, although it's not as versatile inside as a Vauxhall Zafira. Trim and finish leave a little to be desired but the styling is smart, if unimaginative. There are three engines to choose from, starting with the entry-level 1.8. The 2.0 Sport has extra body-styling and looks fun, while the turbodiesel is noisy and sluggish.
