Hyundai Accent

Ratings

2 stars

Summary

Average. The Accent is cheap and cheerful but it still feels out of date. Entry-level versions are the only sensible choice.

Review

The Accent represents plenty of car for the money but lags way behind the new Ford Focus or Vauxhall Astra. Kia and Skoda offer better cars for not much more money. New version launched 2004, but the Accent already feels behind the times. If you need a roomy car for little money, then the 1.3 version is excellent no-frills value; there's also a good 1.5-litre diesel option or a new 1.6 petrol engine. Higher-specified models are too expensive and can't compete in this market. Truth is, a secondhand Ford Focus makes more sense.
