Honda NSX

Ratings

4 stars

Summary

Recommended. Old but still brilliant, the NSX offers superb handling and supercar performance, thanks to a wonderful mid-mounted V6 engine. Only the lack ofbadge kudos and a dingy, cheap-feeling cabin stand against it.

Review

Designed as an 'improved copy' of contemporary late 1980s Ferraris, the NSX remains the closest thing to a Japanese supercar. Even by modern standards the chassis dynamics are still exemplary; the late Ayrton Senna was involved in their development. The V6 engine gives strong performance and a great soundtrack. There is some pretence of luggage space, but the cabin feels increasingly dated, having been passed over by the recent facelift which yielded flush-fitting front headlamps. A price realignment at the same time knocked £10,000 off the cost, but the NSX still loses value far quicker than a Porsche 911. Expensive to run, too, although famed for reliability if looked after well.
