Ferrari 575 Maranello

Summary

Highly recommended. The grown-up Ferrari. Predictably sublime handling, perspective-stretching performance and genuine grand tourer levels of comfort. It's this or a private helicopter.

Review

With a scarcely feasible 508bhp from its front-mounted V12, the Ferrari 575 is one of the most powerful cars on sale in world. It's also effortlessly fast thanks to linear acceleration that seems to barely diminish as you head towards the claimed 202 mph top speed. Handling is secure and unintimidating, although some critics complain the 575 can't offer the dynamic rewards of its predecessor 550. Ignore them: the 575 still has all the performance and roadholding prowess any sane person could ever wish for. The only real dilemma is whether or not to choose the semi-automatic 'F1' gearbox. It's a bit clunky and tends to eat clutches, so we'd recommend (in the event of that long hoped-for lottery win) that you don't.
