Not Recommended. The American maker's budget saloon is strong on equipment but has a serious image problem. The interior is cheap and it's dull to drive.
If you are impressed by specification and standard equipment, then the Neon is a winner. Air-conditioning, central locking and much more are all included. Unfortunately, while the 2.0 cars are quite quick, they look as interesting as a jelly mould. Inside, the seats are comfortable, but cheap materials have made a mess of the dashboard and space is at a premium. There's just one petrol engine choice and no diesel - at least the R/T model is slightly more interesting, with 150bhp on tap. Both the Vauxhall Astra and Ford Focus are better options.
