Proton Wira

Not recommended. A budget Malaysian car with bland styling, both inside and out. Only compensations include the low price tag and strong warranty.

Proton Satria

Steer Clear. Based on an old Mitsubishi Colt, the Satria is unable to come close to class standards of ride, handling, performance or safety. Durable build and reasonable performance - especially from the GTI version - the upsides.

Proton Impian

Not recommended. Re-vamped looks but the pricey Impian still can't shake off its budget build background. Plucky petrol engine but no diesel option.

Proton Gen2

Steer Clear. Poor build quality and a dated engine plague the latest Proton. Gen2 looks reasonable from every angle but is generally poor value for money.

Proton Savvy

Not recommended. Proton's first-ever small car is a big step for the Malaysian carmaker - but we're wondering whether it's one in the right direction.
